There was a strong aroma of rubbing alcohol on the nose when I first poured this, but it seemed to burn off if that’s possible. The wine was a very pretty garnet color and served up a lot of red fruit. After a few glasses the aroma coming from the lip of the bottle was the same as the smoke coming from my bar-b-que (or was I smelling the smoke from my bar-b-que?). The wine did not taste smoky, though. I enjoyed this wine and true to its heritage as a Malbec, it was good with my grilled Tri-tip roast.
What did the real wine cognoscenti say?

Currant, violet, dried-herb and grilled-meat aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with silky tannins. Juicy and richly flavored. Drink or hold.

A vivid purple hue. The intense nose offers aromas from the aging process and liqueur-like notes such as cigar box and dark fruit cordial. Indulgent and broad with a juicy, alcoholic character, the 2020 delivers plenty of power and flavor before the long finish.
